Easy to route and adjust, it’s an essential replacement when refurbishing classic muscle car throttle systems.
Features:

  • Direct-fit replacement for the carburetor-to-accelerator lever cable on 4-barrel setups.
  • High-strength inner cable with a durable protective outer jacket for long life.
  • Corrosion-resistant end fittings and smooth action to reduce throttle slack and sticking.
  • Simple routing and adjustment for quick restoration and improved throttle response.
  • Ideal for restoration, maintenance, or upgrading worn OEM throttle cables.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Pliers
  • Adjustable wrench or appropriate sockets
  • Lubricant (cable lube or light oil)
  • Rag
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, set parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
  2. Locate and inspect the existing accelerator cable routing from the throttle lever on the carburetor through the firewall to the pedal assembly.
  3. Release the throttle return spring tension and disconnect the cable from the carburetor throttle lever (remove retaining clip or pin).
  4. At the firewall and pedal end, remove any retaining clips, brackets, or nuts securing the old cable and pull the cable free from its routing.
  5. Compare new cable length and end fittings to the old cable to ensure correct routing and orientation.
  6. Route the new cable through the firewall and along the original path, avoiding sharp edges, hot exhaust components, and pinch points.
  7. Attach the cable end to the carburetor throttle lever and secure with the provided clip or pin. Reinstall any firewall grommet or bracket.
  8. Connect the pedal end and adjust the cable free play per factory specification so the throttle returns fully and has minimal slack.
  9. Lubricate the cable housing and moving ends with cable lube or light oil, and reattach any retaining hardware or brackets.
  10. Reconnect the negative battery terminal, start the engine, and carefully test throttle travel and return. Re-check all fasteners and final cable adjustment after a short test drive.
