Suggested Tools:
  • Ratchet and socket set
  • Combination wrenches
  • Torque wrench (recommended)
  • Penetrating oil (if removing old hardware)
  • Wire brush or shop rags
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and support bumper if necessary.
  2. If removing old hardware, spray penetrating oil and allow to soak; remove old bolts, nuts and washers.
  3. Clean and inspect bumper mounting surfaces and frame mounting points; remove rust and debris with wire brush.
  4. Lay out new hardware and compare lengths/threads to old pieces to confirm correct fit.
  5. Install bolts and washers through bumper and into mounting points; start threads by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  6. Align bumper for even gaps and proper fit, then snug fasteners evenly on both sides.
  7. Torque all fasteners to a firm, even specification (use a torque wrench if available) and recheck alignment.
  8. Recheck fasteners after a short test drive and retorque if necessary.
