Direct-fit windshield washer pump for 1971–1991 GM cars and trucks designed to restore reliable washer fluid delivery and improve safety. This 12V replacement pump installs into the factory reservoir opening and delivers consistent spray pressure to clear glass and headlights. Constructed with a corrosion-resistant housing and sealed motor, it provides durable, quiet operation ideal for restoration projects and routine maintenance. Easy plug-and-play installation gets your washer system working again without complex wiring or modifications.
Features:
- Fits 1971–1991 GM cars and trucks (direct-fit for most factory washer reservoirs).
- 12V electric pump restores consistent washer fluid flow and spray pressure.
- Corrosion-resistant plastic housing and sealed motor for long service life.
- Designed for plug-and-play replacement with OEM-style electrical connector.
- Quiet operation reduces noise while improving windshield visibility and safety.
- Ideal for vehicle restorations, maintenance, and replacement of failing pumps.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 15-30 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, turn off ignition and remove the key. For safety, disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Locate the washer fluid reservoir (underhood or behind trim panel depending on vehicle) and access the pump area. Remove any trim or access panels if required.
- Place a towel or small container beneath the reservoir to catch any spilled fluid. If necessary, siphon or drain enough washer fluid to prevent spills when removing the pump.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the old pump. Use pliers to remove the washer hose from the pump outlet (note hose orientation).
- Remove the old pump by twisting and pulling it from the reservoir grommet, or by removing retaining hardware if present.
- Compare the new pump to the old unit to confirm fit and orientation. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical terminals if desired.
- Insert the new pump into the reservoir grommet or mount, ensuring a snug, sealed fit. Reattach the washer hose and secure with the original clamp or replace clamp if needed.
- Reconnect the electrical connector, reattach any access panels, and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Refill the reservoir with washer fluid, start the vehicle, and actuate the washer to verify proper spray pattern and check for leaks.
- If any leaks or poor spray performance are present, secure hose clamps, verify electrical connection, and re-seat the pump in the grommet.
