This bronze gear repair kit is a direct-fit solution for restoring the pop-up headlight motor on 1997–2004 Chevrolet Corvette (C5) vehicles. Worn or stripped plastic gears are replaced with precision-machined bronze components to stop slipping, reduce wear, and provide smooth, reliable gear engagement. The kit is designed for durability and corrosion resistance, improving long-term operation of the headlight mechanism and making it ideal for routine maintenance or full restoration projects. Installable by a competent DIYer or professional technician, the kit returns solid, quiet actuation to tired headlight motors and prevents repeat failures.
Features:
- Fits 1997–2004 Chevrolet Corvette (C5) pop-up headlight motors.
- Does not include the T-Brace, see part 3116074 for a kit that includes the brace.
- Precision-machined bronze gears for superior wear resistance vs. original plastic parts.
- Direct-fit replacement components and hardware for straightforward installation.
- Restores smooth, positive gear engagement and prevents stripping under load.
- Corrosion-resistant finish for reliable, long-term operation in automotive conditions.

Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30–60 minutes
Instructions:
- Safety first: disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental motor operation.
- Access the headlight motor by either removing the headlight assembly or opening the service access points per the vehicle service manual.
- Remove the motor from the assembly by disconnecting electrical connectors and fasteners. Keep track of screws and orientation.
- Carefully disassemble the motor housing. Note and/or photograph gear orientation and any shims or spacers so reassembly matches factory configuration.
- Remove the old, worn gears and clean the internal housing, shafts, and bearing surfaces with a solvent and a clean cloth. Inspect shafts for wear or damage.
- Install the new bronze gears and any supplied bushings/washers, ensuring correct orientation and mesh clearance. Replace any damaged retaining clips or fasteners.
- Apply a light, even coating of recommended grease to gear teeth and bearing surfaces—avoid excessive grease which can attract debris.
- Reassemble the motor housing, reinstall the motor into the headlight assembly, and reconnect electrical connectors.
- Reconnect the battery and cycle the headlights to verify smooth, quiet operation through the full travel range before final reinstallation of covers or trim.
- Reinstall any removed trim or fasteners and perform a final operational check.
