Installation / Application:

- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, set the parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack, and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel on the passenger side.
- Locate the idler arm on the frame where the steering center link connects; inspect mounting fasteners and retainers (cotter pins, nuts).
- Remove any cotter pin or retaining clip, then loosen and remove the nut securing the idler arm stud to the steering center link. Use a ball joint/pitman arm puller or carefully strike the linkage connection to separate it.
- Unbolt the idler arm bracket from the frame using the appropriate sockets/wrenches. Retain hardware for comparison or replacement as needed.
- Compare the new idler arm to the old unit for correct orientation and mounting hole alignment.
- Install the new idler arm onto the frame and hand-thread mounting bolts; tighten to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque with a torque wrench.
- Reconnect the steering center link to the idler arm stud, install the nut, and tighten to specified torque. Install a new cotter pin or retainer if required.
- If the idler arm includes a grease fitting, apply grease via grease gun until lubrication is visible or specified amount is reached.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque the lug nuts to specification, and test-steer at low speed to confirm correct operation and absence of excessive play.
- After installation, have a professional alignment performed if steering feel or tracking is affected.
