Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts, raise vehicle with floor jack and secure on jack stands. Remove wheel.
  3. Spray fasteners with penetrating oil and allow to soak if needed.
  4. Remove cotter pin and castle nut from the ball joint stud (if equipped).
  5. Disconnect the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or appropriate tool. Support the control arm to prevent sudden movement.
  6. If necessary, remove control arm mounting fasteners to allow access to the ball joint.
  7. Use a ball joint press or C-clamp with adapters to press out the old ball joint from the control arm.
  8. Clean the control arm bore of rust and debris. Inspect control arm and knuckle for damage; replace if required.
  9. Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated. Ensure correct orientation for right or left side.
  10. Reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle and install the retaining nut. Torque to factory specifications and install a new cotter pin if required.
  11. Reinstall any removed control arm fasteners and torque to spec.
  12. Grease the joint if it has a grease fitting. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
  13. Test drive and inspect for proper steering and suspension operation. Perform wheel alignment if necessary.
