Replacement idler arm for 1962–1967 Dodge, Fargo, and Plymouth vehicles. This steering idler arm supports the steering linkage, maintains proper alignment, and helps provide consistent, safe steering response. Built from heat-treated steel with corrosion-resistant coating, it restores correct steering geometry, reduces play, and extends the life of adjacent components. Ideal for restorations and maintenance, the part offers reliable performance, long-term durability, and straightforward installation to get classic cars back on the road with confidence.
Features:
  • Fits 1962–1967 Dodge, Fargo, and Plymouth models (idler arm steering linkage application).
  • Constructed from heat-treated steel for strength and long service life.
  • Corrosion-resistant coating helps prevent rust in older vehicles.
  • Restores proper steering geometry and reduces play for improved handling.
  • Direct replacement for worn or damaged factory idler arms — ideal for restorations.
  • Easy-to-install design using existing steering linkage hardware where applicable.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Pitman arm puller or pickle fork
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Wrenches
  • Penetrating oil
  • Hammer
  • Grease (if required) and rag
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, chock rear wheels, and safely raise the front of the vehicle. Support with jack stands.
  2. Remove the wheel if needed for access and apply penetrating oil to the idler arm fasteners and linkage connections.
  3. Support the center link or drag link to prevent sudden movement once the idler arm is disconnected.
  4. Use a pitman arm puller or pickle fork to separate the idler arm stud from the center link/drag link; remove the retaining nut and washers.
  5. Unbolt the idler arm bracket from the frame using the appropriate sockets/wrenches and remove the old idler arm.
  6. Position the new idler arm in place and hand-thread mounting bolts. Torque mounting bolts to factory specifications.
  7. Reconnect the idler arm stud to the center link/drag link, install new or existing washers and castle nut, and torque to spec. Install cotter pin if applicable.
  8. Lower the vehicle, and check steering free-play. Perform a wheel alignment or have professional alignment done to ensure correct steering geometry.
  9. Test-drive at low speed to confirm steering response and check for any unusual noises or looseness.
