Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Loosen lug nuts on the front wheel, lift the vehicle with a floor jack and support on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Remove any components obstructing access to the upper ball joint (e.g., brake caliper bracket, sway bar link) as required.
- Separate the upper control arm from the steering knuckle: remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the ball joint stud, then use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to disengage the stud from the knuckle.
- Support the upper control arm and remove any retaining fasteners or snap rings that hold the ball joint in the control arm.
- Press out the old ball joint using a ball joint press or appropriate C-clamp adapter. Clean the control arm bore and inspect for damage or excessive wear.
- Press the new ball joint into the control arm until it seats fully. Install any retaining clip or snap ring if required.
- Reinstall the upper control arm stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the castle nut to the manufacturer's torque specification, and install a new cotter pin.
- Reassemble any removed components, pump grease into the fitting if equipped, and reinstall the wheel. Torque lug nuts to specification.
- Lower the vehicle, perform a final torque check on all fasteners, and have alignment checked/adjusted as needed before driving.
