Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts, raise vehicle with jack, and secure on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the inner tie rod end connected to the steering rack and the outer tie rod assembly.
- Apply penetrating oil to fasteners and let sit to ease removal.
- Loosen and remove the clamp or nut securing the inner tie rod to the steering rack; use a tie rod removal tool or pickle fork to separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle if required.
- Unscrew the inner tie rod from the steering rack — hold the rack if necessary to prevent damage.
- Compare new part to removed unit to confirm correct orientation and length.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the steering rack to the manufacturer's specified depth or torque setting. Use a torque wrench to tighten to spec.
- Reattach the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and secure with the appropriate nut; torque to manufacturer spec.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
