Inner right-hand tie rod end for 1986–1997 Ford vehicles, designed to restore steering precision and safety. This direct-replacement steering component secures the inner connection between the steering rack and outer tie rod, maintaining alignment and reducing play. Built from forged steel with a protective coating and a durable ball-stud joint, it resists wear and corrosion for reliable road performance. Ideal for restoration or routine maintenance to eliminate steering wander, vibration, and uneven tire wear.
Features:
  • Fits 1986-1997 Ford vehicles (including F-Series trucks like F-150/F-250, Bronco, Ranger and select models) — right-hand inner tie rod end.
  • Forged steel construction for strength and long service life.
  • Precision ball-stud joint to reduce steering play and restore alignment.
  • Protective coating resists corrosion and road contaminants.
  • Direct-replacement part for restoration, repair, or maintenance projects.
  • Easy-to-install design compatible with standard steering components.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Lug wrench
  • Wrenches and sockets (metric and SAE as needed)
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Penetrating oil
  • Grease (if applicable)
  • Measuring tape or caliper (for pre-measurement)
Instructions:
  1. Park on a level surface, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then lift vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
  3. Locate the inner right-hand tie rod end on the steering rack and apply penetrating oil to fasteners as needed.
  4. Mark the position or measure the exposed length of the tie rod from a fixed point to preserve alignment during installation.
  5. Loosen the lock nut on the outer tie rod, then separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork if necessary.
  6. Unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod and remove the inner tie rod retaining fastener(s) at the steering rack.
  7. Remove the old inner tie rod from the steering rack — use an inner tie rod tool if available for easier removal.
  8. Install the new inner right-hand tie rod by threading it onto the steering rack to the previously measured position. Torque retaining nut(s) to manufacturer specifications.
  9. Reattach the outer tie rod to the new inner tie rod and tighten the lock nut to secure the assembly.
  10. Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque the tie rod end nut to spec. Install a new cotter pin if applicable.
  11. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
  12. Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and prevent uneven tire wear.
