Premium front lower ball joint designed for 1987-2020 Ford vehicles. This replacement ball joint secures the steering knuckle to the control arm, maintaining proper wheel alignment and suspension geometry. Built to withstand road stresses, it restores steering precision, reduces play, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Durable construction and precision fit make it ideal for routine maintenance, collision repair, or full suspension restoration projects.
Features:
- Fitment: Front lower, right or left hand — fits Ford vehicles 1987–2020 (verify exact model/trim compatibility).
- Heavy-duty steel housing and hardened stud for long service life.
- Restores proper steering and suspension alignment to reduce play and uneven tire wear.
- Seals and internal lubrication retainment minimize contamination and extend service intervals.
- Direct-fit replacement for repair, restoration, or maintenance of front suspension components.
- Easy-to-follow installation with standard suspension tools; designed for dependable, repeatable mounting.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then lift the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to ball joint fasteners and allow to soak if corroded.
- Remove any components blocking access to the ball joint (e.g., brake caliper and rotor or sway bar end link) as needed; hang brake caliper with wire to avoid stress on the hose.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork, and remove the cotter pin and castle nut if present.
- Unbolt the lower ball joint from the control arm (or press out if factory-pressed design) per vehicle-specific procedure.
- Compare new ball joint to removed part to ensure correct orientation and fit.
- Install the new ball joint into the control arm or knuckle; torque fasteners to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. If a press is required, use an appropriate ball joint press.
- Reconnect the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle, install the castle nut, torque to spec, and secure with a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall any removed components (brake rotor, caliper, sway bar links) and mount the wheel. Lower vehicle, torque lug nuts to specification.
- Perform a visual check and test-drive at low speed to confirm proper operation. Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure correct steering geometry.
