Outer tie rod end for 1988–2002 Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC models designed to replace worn or damaged steering linkage components. This right/left-hand threaded unit (M right hand 11/16-18 UNF) secures the steering rack to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper alignment and safe, responsive steering. Built for durability and reliable performance, it restores accurate steering feel, reduces play and vibration, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Easy to install as a direct replacement while meeting OE fitment and helping extend the life of the steering system.

  • Penetrating oil
  • Grease (if greaseable) and grease gun (if applicable)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and block rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the vehicle and secure on jack stands, then remove the wheel.
  3. Locate the outer tie rod end connecting the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod/adjusting sleeve.
  4. Apply penetrating oil to the castle nut and threaded connections; remove cotter pin if present.
  5. Remove the castle nut or retaining nut with a socket/wrench, then separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork. Take care not to damage the knuckle.
  6. Count the number of turns or measure distance from a fixed point to the end of the tie rod to preserve alignment, or mark the position on the adjusting sleeve.
  7. Loosen the lock nut on the inner tie rod/adjusting sleeve and unscrew the outer tie rod end from the sleeve.
  8. Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the adjusting sleeve to the recorded position, then tighten the sleeve lock nut to specification.
  9. Insert the new tie rod stud into the steering knuckle, install the castle or retaining nut and torque to manufacturer specification; install a new cotter pin if required.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to spec.
  11. Because steering geometry may have shifted, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation.
