Front upper ball joint (right or left) designed for 1988–2005 Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC models. This critical suspension component secures the control arm to the steering knuckle, allowing smooth pivoting and precise wheel alignment while bearing vertical and lateral loads. Built for durability and consistent performance, it restores proper steering response, reduces uneven tire wear, and improves ride quality. Precision-engineered for a direct-fit replacement, it simplifies restoration and maintenance of older GM vehicles.
Features:
  • Fits 1988–2005 Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC vehicles (front upper, right or left hand applications).
  • Direct-fit replacement engineered to restore factory alignment and steering geometry.
  • Durable construction with corrosion-resistant finishes to withstand road conditions.
  • Secures control arm to steering knuckle, enabling smooth pivoting and load transfer.
  • Reduces vibration and uneven tire wear for improved ride quality and safety.
  • Easy-to-install design suitable for suspension restoration and routine maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 1–2 hours (per side)
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket and ratchet set
  • Torque wrench
  • Ball joint separator (pickle fork) or press
  • Hammer
  • Pliers
  • Breaker bar
  • Penetrating oil
  • Rubber mallet (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen lug nuts on the wheel but do not remove yet.
  2. Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to the ball joint nut and studs to ease removal.
  4. Remove any components blocking access (brake caliper and rotor if necessary) to reach the steering knuckle and control arm.
  5. Support the lower control arm with a jack to relieve load, then remove the retaining cotter pin and castle nut from the ball joint stud.
  6. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or appropriate press. Be careful not to damage the knuckle.
  7. If the ball joint is pressed in, use a ball joint press to remove the old unit; if bolt-in, unfasten the mounting bolts and remove the old ball joint.
  8. Clean the mounting surfaces and inspect surrounding suspension components for wear or damage.
  9. Install the new ball joint in the correct orientation; press or bolt it into place per vehicle-specific requirements.
  10. Reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle, tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification, and install a new cotter pin if required.
  11. Reassemble any removed components (rotor, caliper), reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
  12. Test drive at low speed to confirm proper steering response and recheck torque on fasteners after initial miles. Perform a professional alignment if required.
