Outer left-hand tie rod end designed to restore steering precision and safety on 1991–2006 Jeep vehicles (including common models such as Wrangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee; confirm exact fitment for your year/model). This direct-replacement steering component secures the steering linkage to the wheel assembly, translating steering input into controlled wheel movement. Built for durability, it reduces play and vibration, improves alignment retention, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Easy to install for DIYers and mechanics, it’s an ideal part for routine maintenance, suspension restoration, or steering system repair.
Features:
- Fits 1991–2006 Jeep vehicles (including Wrangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee) — verify exact fitment for your specific year and model.
- Outer left-hand tie rod end restores steering precision and reduces play for safer handling.
- Durable metal construction with a sealed ball joint protects against dirt and moisture for long service life.
- Helps maintain wheel alignment and prevents uneven tire wear when replacing worn components.
- Straightforward replacement — designed as a direct-fit OEM-style replacement for restoration and repair applications.
- Greaseable or pre-lubricated options available to simplify maintenance and extend component life.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, set parking brake and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod.
- Locate the outer left tie rod end connecting the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod. Mark the position of the old tie rod end on the threaded portion or measure the exposed thread length to preserve alignment settings.
- Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end castle nut and the inner threads if corroded. Remove the cotter pin from the castle nut (if present) and loosen the nut but do not remove it yet.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle. If using a puller, follow tool instructions; if using a hammer, strike carefully to dislodge the joint.
- Unscrew the old tie rod end from the inner tie rod using pliers or a wrench, counting turns or referring to your measurement to keep alignment close.
- Thread the new outer left tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the previously recorded position. Insert the stud into the steering knuckle and tighten the castle nut to the manufacturer’s torque specification. Install a new cotter pin if required.
- Re-check the thread-to-thread measurement to ensure the replacement matches the original position. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle and torque lug nuts to spec.
- After installation, have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure correct toe and prevent premature tire wear.
- Inspect the new tie rod end after 100–200 miles and periodically during routine maintenance for proper tightness and boot condition.
