Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and disconnect battery if working near electrical components.
- Locate the linkage or rod assembly requiring the adjusting sleeve (steering tie rod, shift linkage, etc.) and support the assembly if necessary.
- Loosen and remove any retaining nuts or lockwashers securing the existing sleeve or rod ends using the appropriate wrench or socket.
- Clean the threads on the mating components; inspect rod ends and threads for damage. Apply a light coating of lubricant or anti-seize if desired.
- Thread the new adjusting sleeve onto the rod or fitting to the approximate center position, ensuring correct right- or left-hand orientation for your application.
- Adjust the sleeve to achieve the proper alignment or preload (restore factory specifications where applicable), then tighten the mating nuts to the specified torque.
- If specified or desired, apply a medium-strength thread locker to the retaining fasteners and install lockwashers or jam nuts to prevent loosening.
- Verify full range of motion for the assembly and recheck torques after a short road/test operation. Reinspect after initial use and retighten if necessary.
