Direct-fit inner tie rod end for 1993–2004 Volvo models, engineered to restore precise steering control and alignment. This replacement inner tie rod connects the steering rack to the outer tie rod, maintaining correct toe settings and absorbing steering loads to prevent uneven tire wear and poor handling. Made from durable, corrosion-resistant materials with a precision-machined ball stud and reinforced housing, the part ensures reliable performance and long service life. Ideal for restoration or routine maintenance, it offers a straightforward replacement that returns steering feel and safety to factory-like specifications.
Features:
- Fits 1993-2004 Volvo models (inner tie rod end, right or left hand applications).
- Precision-machined ball stud and hardened housing for consistent steering response.
- Corrosion-resistant finish and reinforced components for long-lasting durability.
- Restores proper toe alignment to prevent uneven tire wear and wandering steering.
- Direct-replacement design for straightforward installation during maintenance or restoration.
- Compatible with standard steering racks; suitable for both right-hand and left-hand inner positions.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake, and block rear wheels. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel(s) to access the steering components.
- Locate the inner tie rod on the steering rack; apply penetrating oil to threads and fasteners and let soak if corroded.
- Loosen and remove the clamp and boot covering the inner tie rod (if applicable) and slide the boot off to expose the connection.
- Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod at the outer tie rod end, then mark or count the turns so you can match the approximate toe position on reassembly.
- Separate the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a pickle fork or tie rod separator if needed, and unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod to free the assembly.
- Use the appropriate inner tie rod removal tool to unthread the old inner tie rod from the steering rack. Protect the rack threads and avoid damaging the rack boot or seal.
- Clean the rack threads and inspect the rack and boot for damage. Replace the rack boot or clamp if worn.
- Thread the new inner tie rod onto the rack by hand, then tighten to the specified torque with a torque wrench and the correct adapter. Do not overtighten.
- Reinstall the outer tie rod onto the new inner tie rod, using the same number of turns or measurement as before to approximate alignment. Tighten the jam nut to specification.
- Reinstall the steering knuckle connection and secure any cotter pins or retaining hardware as required.
- Slide the rack boot back into place and secure clamp(s). Lower the vehicle, tighten wheel lug nuts to spec, and torque them properly with the vehicle on the ground.
- Because toe settings were disturbed, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure correct steering and tire wear.
