Outer right-hand tie rod end for 1994-2004 Volvo passenger vehicles. This replacement part secures the steering linkage to the steering knuckle, maintaining precise steering response and helping prevent uneven tire wear. Engineered for durability and reliable fit, the component restores proper steering geometry after wear or damage. Constructed with a robust ball joint, corrosion-resistant finish, and a serviceable grease fitting (where applicable), it is suitable for restoration, routine maintenance, or accident repair.
Features:
- Fits: 1994-2004 Volvo passenger vehicles — verify specific model fitment for your 850, S70, V70 or compatible chassis.
- Replaces worn outer right-hand tie rod end to restore correct steering alignment and response.
- Durable metal construction with corrosion-resistant coating for long service life.
- Ball-joint design reduces play and vibration for improved steering feel.
- Direct-fit replacement for OEM geometry — no modification required in most applications.
- Includes grease fitting or sealed joint option depending on application for easier maintenance.
- Ideal for restoration, routine steering system maintenance, or replacing damaged components.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes (per side)
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake, and loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands, then remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer right-hand tie rod end at the steering knuckle and identify the jam nut on the inner tie rod.
- Mark the position of the tie rod end on the threaded inner tie rod with a marker to preserve approximate alignment reference.
- Loosen the jam nut and back it off several turns.
- Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut or nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Use a tie rod puller or a pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle; avoid hammering on the ball joint directly if possible.
- Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns as removed (using the mark as a guide) and remove the old part.
- Install the new outer tie rod end by threading it onto the inner tie rod to the marked position. Ensure correct hand (right-hand thread orientation) and seating.
- Reconnect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle, tighten the nut to the manufacturer torque specification, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Tighten the jam nut against the tie rod end to secure the assembly.
- Grease the fitting if the part is serviceable, using a grease gun and appropriate grease.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Because even careful transfer of thread position is only approximate, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation.
