Outer right-hand tie rod end for 1997-1998 Acura TL designed to restore precise steering control and alignment geometry. This direct-replacement steering component secures the steering rack to the wheel assembly, translating steering input into wheel movement while maintaining proper toe settings. Built for durability and consistent performance, it reduces play and vibration, improves tire wear, and restores safe handling characteristics on vehicles with worn or damaged tie rod ends. Ideal for routine maintenance, steering system repairs, and suspension restorations.
Features:
- Fits: 1997-1998 Acura TL — outer tie rod end, right hand (passenger side)
- Durable metal construction with protective coating to resist corrosion
- Replaces worn or damaged outer tie rod ends to restore steering precision
- Helps reduce steering play, vibration, and premature tire wear
- Pre-greased/maintenance-friendly ball joint for smooth operation
- Direct-fit replacement — no modification required for bolt-on installation
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then lift the front of the vehicle and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel on the side being serviced.
- Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle and identify the castle nut and the steering rack end connection.
- Mark the position of the old tie rod on the threaded shaft (or measure the distance from a reference point) to preserve alignment. Count the number of exposed threads or note the rotation count for the new part.
- Loosen the jam nut at the inner tie rod connection and then loosen the outer tie rod nut at the steering knuckle (do not remove completely yet).
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or a pickle fork. If stuck, apply penetrating oil and allow to soak before attempting again.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod using pliers or a wrench and remove the old part.
- Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position or to the same number of turns as the old unit. Adjust until the length matches the original measurement to keep the alignment close.
- Insert the tie rod stud into the steering knuckle and install the castle nut. Torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification and secure with a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod end to lock the adjustment in place.
- Grease the new tie rod end if equipped with a zerk fitting. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Because tie rod replacement affects toe alignment, have a professional wheel alignment performed as soon as possible to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
