Front lower right-hand ball joint designed for 1998–2010 Volkswagen vehicles, engineered to restore steering precision and suspension stability. This OEM-style replacement secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper wheel alignment and minimizing play that causes uneven tire wear and vague steering. Constructed for durability and reliable operation under typical road conditions, it is ideal for suspension repairs, routine maintenance, and vehicle restoration where safe, predictable handling is required.
Features:
- Fits 1998–2010 Volkswagen models including select Jetta, Golf, Beetle/New Beetle and Golf Variant (verify fitment for your VIN).
- Replaces worn lower front right-hand ball joint to restore steering accuracy and suspension geometry.
- Durable metal construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Designed to reduce vibration and unwanted play for improved tire life and handling.
- Direct-fit replacement for easier installation during suspension repairs and restorations.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Loosen lug nuts on the front right wheel slightly, then raise the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to the lower ball joint nut and mounting bolts; allow time to soak if corroded.
- Remove any brake caliper or rotor components as needed to access the lower control arm and ball joint (support caliper with wire; do not hang by hose).
- Loosen and remove the nut securing the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to separate the stud from the knuckle.
- Unbolt the lower control arm-to-subframe or ball joint housing bolts as required to free the control arm and access the ball joint.
- Remove the old ball joint from the control arm assembly. Depending on design, this may require pressing or unbolting — follow vehicle-specific service manual if press-fit.
- Install the new ball joint into the control arm, aligning mounting holes and securing with provided nuts/bolts. Torque fasteners to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
- Reconnect the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle and tighten the castle nut to specified torque; install new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall any removed brake components, reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
- Test-drive at low speed to confirm proper operation. Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure correct camber/toe settings.
