Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands, then remove the wheel.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end threads and the pitman arm connection; allow to soak if rusted.
  4. Loosen and remove the jam nut securing the inner tie rod to the outer tie rod (if replacing entire assembly maintain thread count or measure distance for alignment reference).
  5. Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the pitman arm; strike carefully with a hammer if necessary to dislodge.
  6. Unscrew and remove the inner tie rod end from the pitman arm or steering linkage; compare new part to old for correct orientation.
  7. Thread the new inner left-hand tie rod end into place to the factory depth or match the original measurement, then tighten to the manufacturer-specified torque.
  8. Reattach the tie rod end to the pitman arm and secure the castle nut or retaining hardware, torquing to spec; install cotter pin if required.
  9. Tighten the jam nut (if applicable) against the tie rod end to lock the adjustment, then grease the joint if equipped with a zerk fitting.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque the lug nuts to specification, and perform a professional wheel alignment to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
