Outer right-hand tie rod end (with grease fitting) for 2000–2002 Toyota vehicles. This replacement steering component connects the steering rack to the wheel assembly, translating steering input into wheel movement while maintaining proper alignment and steering response. Designed as a durable OEM-replacement style part, it restores steering precision, reduces play and vibration, and features a grease fitting for easy lubrication and extended service life. Ideal for maintenance, repair, or restoration of worn steering components to improve safety and handling.
Features:
- Fitment: Fits 2000–2002 Toyota vehicles — verify fitment for your specific year and model before purchase.
- Outer right-hand tie rod end designed to connect the steering linkage to the wheel assembly and maintain alignment.
- Includes a grease fitting (zerk) for periodic lubrication to extend joint life and reduce wear.
- Durable metal construction with protective boot to resist contaminants and road debris.
- Restoration-grade replacement that reduces steering play, vibration, and uneven tire wear.
- Straightforward swap-in design suitable for routine steering repairs and maintenance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes (per side)
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, set parking brake, and chock wheels. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel on the side being serviced.
- Locate the outer tie rod end where it attaches to the steering knuckle and the inner tie rod. Clean the area to remove dirt and grease.
- Use a marker to mark the position of the existing tie rod relative to the inner tie rod or measure the exposed threads to record toe setting. This helps preserve alignment during installation.
- Loosen the jam nut that secures the outer tie rod end to the inner tie rod.
- Remove the cotter pin (if present) and unfasten the castle nut or retaining nut that secures the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork. Be careful not to damage the knuckle boot or surrounding components.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns (or to the same measured thread depth) as removed to maintain alignment approximation.
- Install the new outer tie rod end by threading it onto the inner tie rod to the recorded position. Hand-tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod end.
- Insert the tie rod stud into the steering knuckle and secure with the supplied nut. Torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Tighten the jam nut to lock the outer tie rod end in place. Re-grease the joint via the grease fitting using a compatible grease gun until the boot shows slight expansion (do not overfill).
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper toe settings and tire wear.
