Inner tie rod end designed to replace worn steering components on compatible 2003–2008 Pontiac and Toyota models. This inner tie rod end connects the steering rack to the outer tie rod, maintaining proper toe alignment and steering response. Built to meet OEM fitment and performance, it restores precise steering, reduces play and vibration, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Constructed from hardened steel with corrosion-resistant finishes and a durable ball stud/boot assembly, it offers reliable long-term performance and straightforward installation for restoration or maintenance projects.
Features:
  • Fits 2003-2008 Pontiac Vibe and 2003-2008 Toyota Matrix (inner tie rod end, right and left hand options).
  • Hardened steel construction for strength and long service life.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish and robust boot to protect the ball joint from contaminants.
  • Restores steering precision by eliminating play and improving alignment stability.
  • Direct-replacement design to match OEM dimensions and fitment.
  • Easy installation with common hand tools; ideal for repair and restoration jobs.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 60-120 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands or lift
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Adjustable wrench or open-end wrenches
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Hammer (optional)
  • Marker or paint pen
  • Grease (if required)
  • Alignment tools or access to wheel alignment service
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise vehicle with jack and support with jack stands, then remove the front wheel.
  3. Locate the inner tie rod end on the steering rack; remove any steering rack boot clamp or retainers and slide the boot back to expose the inner tie rod.
  4. Mark the position of the old tie rod on the threaded section (or count turns) to preserve approximate alignment settings.
  5. Loosen and remove the inner tie rod retaining nut using the appropriate socket or wrench. Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the inner tie rod from the rack if required.
  6. Unscrew the old inner tie rod from the steering rack. Inspect the rack threads and boot for damage and clean the area.
  7. Thread the new inner tie rod onto the rack to the marked position (or match the original turn count). Hand-start then torque the retaining nut to the manufacturer's specification.
  8. Reposition the steering rack boot and secure any clamps or retainers to seal the joint. Re-grease fittings if applicable.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque wheel lug nuts to specification.
  10. Because steering geometry may have changed, take the vehicle for a professional wheel alignment to ensure proper toe and prevent uneven tire wear.
