Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake, loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise vehicle with a hydraulic jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to nuts and bolts on the control arm and tie rod ends to ease removal.
- Remove the brake caliper and bracket if necessary and hang it out of the way without stressing the brake hose.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle: remove the cotter pin and castle nut, then use a ball joint separator or a hammer and punch to free the stud from the knuckle.
- Support the control arm and remove bolts securing it to the subframe or crossmember. Remove the control arm assembly as needed to gain access to the ball joint.
- Press or drive out the old ball joint using a ball joint press or hydraulic press per tool instructions. Clean the control arm bore of rust and debris before installation.
- Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated. Verify orientation and seating depth according to the part design.
- Reinstall the control arm and torque mounting bolts to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
- Insert the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle, install the supplied castle nut and torque to specification. Install a new cotter pin and bend to secure.
- Reinstall the brake components and wheel. Lower the vehicle and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Perform a test drive and have a professional alignment performed if suspension components were removed or replaced to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
