Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) for 2005-2007 Ford and Mercury vehicles. This precision-engineered steering component connects the steering rack to the outer tie rod, translating steering input into wheel movement while maintaining alignment and handling stability. Built to withstand road stresses, it replaces worn or damaged inner tie rods to restore steering responsiveness, reduce play, and prevent premature tire wear. Durable construction and a protective boot help resist corrosion and contamination for long service life.
Features:
- Fits 2005-2006-2007 Ford and Mercury models requiring inner tie rod end, right or left hand.
- High-strength construction for reliable steering connection and long-term durability.
- Designed to reduce steering play and restore precise wheel alignment.
- Protective dust boot shields the joint from dirt, water, and road debris.
- Direct replacement for worn OE inner tie rods — ideal for restoration or maintenance.
- Simple installation with common hand tools; can be serviced without removing the rack in many applications.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes (per side)
Instructions:
- Secure vehicle on level ground, chock rear wheels, and lift front end. Support with jack stands and remove the front wheel on the side being serviced.
- Locate the inner tie rod at the steering rack and inspect the outer tie rod connection. Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the inner rod (or measure thread counts) to preserve alignment during reassembly.
- Loosen the lock nut securing the inner and outer tie rod connection. Separate the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod using a tie rod puller or by loosening the nut and striking the steering knuckle tie rod taper carefully.
- Remove any clamps or retainers and slide back the protective boot to expose the inner tie rod connection at the rack.
- Use the appropriate inner tie rod tool or wrench to unthread and remove the old inner tie rod from the steering rack. Apply penetrating lubricant if bolts are corroded.
- Compare new and old parts for correct fitment. If the new inner tie rod is greasable, apply the recommended grease to the joint. Thread the new inner tie rod onto the steering rack and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification.
- Reinstall the protective boot and secure with clamps, then reconnect the outer tie rod to the new inner tie rod. Tighten the lock nut to secure the length you marked earlier.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification. Replace any cotter pins if used at the outer tie rod.
- Because steering geometry may have changed, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
