Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and block rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts, raise vehicle with a jack, and secure on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Locate the outer tie rod and loosen the lock nut securing it to the inner tie rod; mark or count turns to preserve alignment as a reference.
- Separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or by striking the knuckle carefully with a hammer until the taper releases.
- Loosen and remove the inner tie rod end from the steering rack using the appropriate inner tie rod tool or wrench.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the rack to the previously noted position; tighten to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque.
- Reconnect the outer tie rod to the inner tie rod and secure the lock nut; adjust to match original turn count or to approximate alignment.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
