Front upper ball joint engineered for 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma (fits left or right). This critical suspension component secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper wheel alignment and smooth steering response. The knurled housing ensures a secure press-fit in the control arm while the supplied uninstalled press-fit boot allows for accurate placement and a tight seal during installation. Built for durability and reliable road performance, this direct-replacement ball joint restores factory geometry, reduces play and vibration, and helps extend the life of related suspension components.
Features:
- Fits 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma — front upper, left or right hand application.
- Knurled housing for improved press-fit retention in the control arm.
- Uninstalled press-fit rubber boot included for precise installation and a tight seal.
- High-strength construction to resist wear, maintain alignment, and reduce steering play.
- Direct replacement — ideal for repair, restoration, or routine suspension maintenance.
- Corrosion-resistant finish for long service life in varied road conditions.
- Helps prevent premature wear of tires and suspension components by restoring proper geometry.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1-2 hours per side
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the front of the truck with a jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Remove any components blocking access to the upper ball joint (e.g., sway bar links or brake caliper as needed) and support the lower control arm if required.
- Separate the upper control arm from the steering knuckle by removing the retaining nut and using a ball joint separator or appropriate tool to free the stud.
- Press out the old ball joint from the control arm using a ball joint press or C-clamp press and appropriate adapters.
- Inspect the control arm bore for damage or corrosion; clean as needed to ensure a smooth, solid press-fit surface.
- Position the replacement ball joint with the knurled housing aligned, and press it into the control arm until fully seated. The knurling helps secure the fit.
- Install the press-fit boot over the ball stud; because the boot is supplied uninstalled, seat it carefully to ensure a snug seal against contaminants.
- Reattach the upper control arm to the steering knuckle and torque the ball joint nut to the manufacturer's specification.
- Reinstall any removed components, torque all fasteners to spec, remount the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque wheel lug nuts to spec.
- Perform a final inspection and have wheel alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
