Instructions:
- Confirm correct part by checking the vehicle’s VIN and comparing with OEM part numbers or fitment guide.
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise vehicle with a floor jack, and support securely on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod so the outer tie rod can be unscrewed from the inner section.
- Remove cotter pin (if present) from the castle nut on the outer tie rod stud, then loosen and remove the nut.
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or a pickle fork. Take care not to damage surrounding components.
- Count the number of turns required to unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod (or measure thread exposure) to preserve approximate alignment during installation.
- Unscrew and remove the old outer tie rod end.
- Screw the new outer left-hand tie rod end onto the inner tie rod the same number of turns (or to the same measured position) to approximate original toe settings.
- Insert the stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the castle nut to the wheel manufacturer’s specified torque, and install a new cotter pin if required.
- Tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod end to secure the adjustment.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Because steering geometry was disturbed, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure proper toe/camber settings and safe handling.
