Inner tie rod end for 2006–2016 BMW vehicles, designed to connect the steering rack to the outer tie rod and maintain precise wheel alignment. This replacement part restores steering responsiveness, reduces play and vibration, and helps prevent uneven tire wear.   • Inner tie rod removal tool (or adjustable wrench)
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Screwdriver
  • Grease (if applicable)
  • Penetrating oil
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts, lift the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands; remove the wheel.
  3. Locate the inner tie rod at the end of the steering rack and inspect surrounding components.
  4. Remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle (if necessary) to create slack in the tie rod assembly.
  5. Apply penetrating oil to fittings and loosen the jam nut securing the inner tie rod to the outer tie rod.
  6. Use an inner tie rod removal tool or appropriate wrench to unthread and remove the old inner tie rod from the steering rack.
  7. Clean the rack threads and apply a light coat of grease if recommended by service manual.
  8. Thread the new inner tie rod into the steering rack hand-tight, then torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification.
  9. Reattach and properly torque the outer tie rod end and jam nut; re-install wheel and lower the vehicle.
  10. Tighten wheel lug nuts to specification, then perform a professional wheel alignment to ensure correct steering geometry.
