This inner tie rod end (right/left hand) is a direct-replacement steering component for 2014–2019 Mitsubishi vehicles. It secures the steering rack to the outer tie rod assembly, translating steering input into wheel movement while maintaining alignment and minimizing play. Built for durability and reliable steering performance, this part restores proper steering feel, reduces steering vibration, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Designed as an OE-fit replacement, it’s suitable for steering system maintenance and restoration projects where safe, precise steering response is required.
Features:
- Fitment: 2014–2019 Mitsubishi vehicles (select models — verify exact fitment with VIN or parts guide).
- Function: Replaces inner tie rod end to connect the steering rack to the tie rod assembly and restore steering precision.
- Material: High-strength steel stud with corrosion-resistant finish and durable ball joint housing.
- Benefits: Reduces steering play and vibration, helps prevent uneven tire wear, and restores alignment geometry.
- Installation: Direct-replacement design for a straightforward swap during steering or suspension service.
- Durability: Engineered for long service life under normal driving conditions and road stress.
- Application: Ideal for maintenance, repair, and restoration of steering systems on compatible Mitsubishi models.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes (per side)
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, chock wheels, loosen front lug nuts slightly, then lift the vehicle and secure with jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end jam nut and tie rod end stud; loosen the jam nut that secures the inner tie rod to the adjusting sleeve.
- Remove the cotter pin and castle nut (if present) securing the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle, then separate the outer tie rod end using a tie rod puller or pickle fork.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the adjusting sleeve enough to expose the inner tie rod connection, count the turns for reference to preserve approximate alignment.
- Use the appropriate wrench to remove the inner tie rod end from the steering rack — some inner tie rods require an internal wrench or adapter; support the rack to avoid damage.
- Compare the new part to the removed unit for verification, then thread the new inner tie rod into the steering rack and torque to manufacturer specifications.
- Reinstall the outer tie rod end onto the adjusting sleeve using the previously counted turns as a starting point, secure the castle nut and install a new cotter pin if applicable, and tighten the jam nut.
- Reinstall the wheel, torque lug nuts to spec, lower the vehicle, and perform a preliminary steering check to ensure no binding.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed as a required final step to ensure correct toe and prevent premature tire wear.
