Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts.
- Raise the vehicle and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle and clean the area.
- Remove cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castle nut or retaining nut securing the tie rod end to the knuckle.
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork; avoid damaging adjacent components.
- Mark or count the number of exposed threads at the inner tie rod to preserve alignment, then loosen and remove the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod.
- Install the new outer tie rod end by threading it onto the inner tie rod to the previously noted position. Make final toe adjustments after installation if needed.
- Insert the taper into the steering knuckle, tighten the castle/retaining nut to the specified torque, and secure with a new cotter pin if required.
- If the part has a grease zerk, apply grease with a grease gun until the boot seats. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.
- Have a professional alignment performed or check toe settings to factory specifications before driving.
