1969-1983 GM Car 1" Inner Diameter Front Sway Bar Bushing is a direct-fit replacement designed to secure the front anti-roll (sway) bar to the chassis, restoring proper alignment and handling. Made from a durable polyurethane elastomer, this bushing reduces play, minimizes noise and vibration, and resists oil and road-contaminant degradation for long-lasting performance. Ideal for restoration and maintenance projects, it provides reliable wear resistance and improved steering response while remaining simple to install.
Features:
  • Fits 1969-1983 GM passenger cars (front sway bar, 1" inner diameter) for models with a 1" to 1 1/8" sway bar.
  • Installed on the front sway bar on most models that include a heavy duty or hi-perfomrnace suspension.
  • Secures the front sway bar to the chassis to reduce play and restore handling.
  • Reduces vibration and eliminates squeaks compared with aged rubber bushings.
  • Direct replacement for restoration or routine suspension refresh projects.
  • Easy to fit design — install without modifying the sway bar or brackets.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands (or lift)
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Combination wrenches
  • Torque wrench (recommended)
  • Flat screwdriver or pry bar
  • Rubber mallet (optional)
  • Grease or supplied lubricant (silicone/urethane-safe)
Instructions:
  1. Safely raise and support the vehicle with jack stands or use a lift; remove any splash shields if needed to access the sway bar.
  2. Locate the front sway bar brackets and remove the mounting bolts with the appropriate socket or wrench.
  3. Support the sway bar if necessary, then remove the old bushings from the bar and brackets.
  4. Clean the sway bar surface and bracket mounting area; inspect brackets for wear or damage.
  5. Apply a light coat of silicone-safe grease or the supplied lubricant to the inside of the new bushings and to the sway bar mounting surface.
  6. Split or open the new bushing (if split-design) and slide it over the sway bar to the correct position, aligning the split with the bracket seam.
  7. Reposition the bracket over the bushing and reinstall the mounting bolts. Tighten hand-tight, then torque to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended specification.
  8. Lower the vehicle and perform a test drive to confirm reduced play, absence of noise, and restored handling.
