Instructions:
- Open the door and remove the old weatherstrip: gently pry out any retainers or clips with a trim tool, and peel the old seal away from the flange.
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or a solvent to remove adhesive residue, dirt and oils. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new left and right seals to confirm orientation and fit. Trim any excess material only if necessary for a precise fit.
- If adhesive is required, apply a thin, even bead to the flange or the back of the weatherstrip per adhesive manufacturer instructions. For clip-in types, align the seal with the channel and press firmly to engage.
- Starting at one end, press the weatherstrip into place along the door flange, working toward the other end. Use masking tape to hold sections in position while adhesive sets if needed.
- Secure corners and terminations carefully; trim and tuck ends so they meet cleanly without gaps.
- Allow adhesive to cure for the time recommended by the adhesive maker (commonly 24 hours) before closing the door repeatedly.
- After curing, check door operation and seal compression. Adjust striker alignment or reposition the seal slightly if necessary to ensure an even, continuous contact and proper door closure.
