Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: open the door and carefully pull out the existing seal. Use a trim tool or screwdriver to loosen stubborn sections.
- Clean the mounting surface: remove adhesive residue and dirt with a solvent or adhesive cleaner, then wipe dry with a clean rag.
- Test-fit new pieces: lay each preformed section into its intended location (left/right and top/bottom) to confirm orientation and fit before final bonding.
- Trim if necessary: make small, careful trims with scissors or a utility knife for precise fit at corners or ends.
- Apply adhesive (if applicable): follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. Apply adhesive to the flange or channel and/or to the weatherstrip as recommended.
- Install weatherstrip: press each piece firmly into place, starting at one end and working to the other. Use masking tape to hold sections in position while adhesive cures if needed.
- Seat seals fully: use a rubber mallet or block of wood to gently tap seals into channels for a snug fit, ensuring continuous contact along the door edge.
- Re-check door operation: close and open the door several times to confirm smooth operation and that sealing is uniform without binding.
- Allow adhesive to cure: wait the recommended cure time before exposing the door to moisture or heavy use.
