Roof Rail Weatherstrip Seal (Left & Right, RWP 1410 68) provides a dependable seal between the roof rail and body to prevent water intrusion, reduce wind noise, and protect the roof channel from corrosion and wear. Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and work in a shaded, dry area. Protect surrounding trim with masking tape if needed.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: use a trim tool or flat screwdriver to pry out the seal and a razor blade to cut away any adhered sections. Take care not to damage the roof rail or paint.
- Thoroughly clean the channel and mating surfaces with solvent and a lint-free cloth. Remove all old adhesive, dirt, and corrosion for a solid bond.
- Dry-fit the new left and right seals in their respective channels to confirm orientation and fit. Trim ends slightly if necessary for a snug fit.
- If adhesive is recommended for your vehicle, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip cement to the channel or to the seal per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
- Press the seal into the channel starting at one end and working along its length. Ensure the bulb and retention bead fully seat into the channel. Use light, even pressure or a rubber mallet covered with cloth to help engage the seal.
- Secure ends and any overlaps with masking tape while adhesive cures (if used). Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately with solvent as directed by the adhesive instructions.
- Allow adhesive to cure per the product guidelines (typically 30 minutes to several hours) before exposing to moisture or driving at high speeds. Re-check fit and make final adjustments if required.
