Instructions:
- Open the door fully and support it if necessary to avoid stress on hinges.
- Carefully peel off the old weatherstrip from the door channel and door edge; remove any retaining clips if present.
- Clean the mounting surface and channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and oils. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the door to confirm orientation (this is the left-hand piece). Align the top corner and any reference points to the door frame.
- If adhesive is required, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting surface according to the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
- Starting at the top hinge area, press the new seal into the channel, working down the length of the door. Ensure the bulb and flange seat fully into the door channel.
- Use a roller or the palm of your hand (or a soft-faced mallet covered with cloth) to firmly seat the seal and remove any air pockets. Trim any excess with a utility knife.
- Secure any end tabs or clips removed earlier, and wipe away any excess adhesive immediately with a clean cloth.
- Allow adhesive to cure per instructions (if used). Close and open the door several times to ensure proper fit and that the door latches smoothly without binding.
- Inspect for gaps and adjust the seal placement if needed. Recheck after a short road test for settling and final fit.
