The Precision Cowl End Seal Kit CES 4400 17 is a direct-fit replacement kit designed to seal the gap between the cowl and the firewall, preventing water intrusion, road debris, and wind noise. Constructed from durable EPDM-grade rubber, the kit restores proper sealing and helps protect HVAC components and interior carpets from moisture. Ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance, this kit improves vehicle weatherproofing, reduces rattles and vibration, and offers long-lasting resistance to ozone, UV and temperature extremes. Easy to install with common hand tools, it returns the cowl area to factory-like function and appearance.
Features:
- Direct-fit replacement cowl end seal kit for applicable vehicles (check fitment before purchase).
- Made from durable EPDM-grade rubber for long-term weather and UV resistance.
- Prevents water intrusion, wind noise, and debris entry at the cowl/firewall junction.
- Helps protect HVAC components, wiring, and interior carpet from moisture damage.
- OEM-style profile for proper alignment and secure sealing; ideal for restorations.
- Easy to install with basic tools; includes sealing surfaces engineered for a snug fit.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1-2 hours
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, disconnect the negative battery terminal if working near electrical components, and remove windshield wipers per vehicle procedure.
- Remove the cowl grille or trim pieces using trim tools and sockets to expose the cowl ends and old seal.
- Carefully peel away and remove the old cowl end seals; cut away any stubborn adhesive or remnants with a razor blade, taking care not to damage paint or sheetmetal.
- Clean the mounting surfaces thoroughly with automotive cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a clean rag; ensure all dirt, grease, and loose adhesive are removed and the area is dry.
- Dry-fit the new seal pieces to confirm orientation and fit; trim to length if necessary following the kit layout.
- Apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting surface if the kit or vehicle recommends it (some kits are push-fit and do not require adhesive).
- Press the new seals firmly into place, working from one end to the other; use masking tape or clamps to hold the seal while adhesive cures if used.
- Reinstall the cowl grille, trim pieces, and windshield wipers in reverse order of removal, and reconnect the battery if disconnected.
- Test for leaks by gently spraying water over the cowl area or checking for wind noise during a short road test; re-tighten or adjust as needed.
