Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-45 minutes
Instructions:
- Open the door and remove the old weatherstrip from the jamb/lock pillar. Use a trim tool or flat screwdriver to pry out stubborn sections.
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and grease. Allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip pieces along the jamb and lock pillar to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess material if necessary.
- If adhesive is recommended for your vehicle, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting channel or back of the seal following the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Press the weatherstrip firmly into the jamb channel, starting at one end and working toward the other, ensuring the flange seats fully into the channel. Use masking tape to hold sections in place while adhesive cures, if used.
- Close the door slowly and check for proper alignment and contact with the door edge. Make small adjustments as needed to eliminate gaps or binding.
- Allow adhesive to set per instructions (if used), remove any masking tape, and recheck door operation and seal integrity.
