The Precision Rear Glass Weatherstrip Lockstrip WLS 1129 C is a corrosion-resistant metal lockstrip designed to secure rear glass weatherstrips in place, preventing the seal from slipping and reducing wind noise and water intrusion. Engineered for restoration and replacement applications, it provides a reliable hold for the window glass bead while protecting the weatherseal from deformation. Its durable metal core and protective coating ensure long-term performance and easy installation for most rear window weatherstrip setups.
Features:
- Corrosion-resistant metal core with a protective coating for long service life.
- Secures rear glass weatherstrips to prevent seal displacement and water leaks.
- Helps reduce wind noise and vibration by keeping the glass and seal firmly seated.
- Designed for restoration and replacement use; restores OEM-style fit and function.
- Simple install — can typically be fitted without removing the glass in many applications.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-45 minutes
Instructions:
- Protect painted surfaces around the window with masking tape to prevent scratches.
- If present, carefully remove the old lockstrip by prying it out of the weatherstrip channel using a flathead screwdriver or trim tool. Use pliers for stubborn sections.
- Clean the channel and mating surfaces thoroughly with a clean rag to remove dirt, old adhesive, and debris.
- Lubricate the weatherstrip bead or channel lightly with soapy water or silicone spray to ease installation.
- Starting at one end, align the new lockstrip with the weatherstrip channel on the glass. Compress the weatherstrip lip over the metal strip and press the lockstrip into the channel.
- Work progressively along the length, seating the lockstrip fully into the channel. Use steady pressure or a trim tool to avoid rolling the weatherstrip lip.
- Trim any excess lockstrip flush with the edge using a utility knife or snips, and recheck both ends for secure seating.
- Operate the window gently to confirm proper fit and that the weatherstrip is held firmly without binding. Re-seat or adjust as needed.
