This rear window weatherstrip seal is molded to fit 1959-1960 Chevrolet El Camino rear windows and includes a trim groove to accept the steel outer trim for an authentic, factory-style finish. Its primary function is to secure and seal the rear glass, preventing water intrusion, wind noise and vibration while protecting the paint and interior from damage. Made from resilient, long-lasting rubber compound, the seal delivers reliable performance for restoration or replacement projects and installs with minimal tools for a fast, durable repair.
Features:
- Fits 1959-1960 Chevrolet El Camino rear window.
- EPDM-style rubber compound for long-lasting weather and UV resistance.
- Integrated trim groove accepts original steel outer trim for proper alignment and appearance.
- Seals against water, dust and wind while dampening vibration and road noise.
- Designed for OEM fit and finish — ideal for classic restoration or replacement.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools; resists cracking and shrinking over time.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip and any attached steel trim; carefully pull out remaining rubber and adhesive.
- Clean the window channel and surrounding metal thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol; remove rust, old adhesive, and debris.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the channel to confirm orientation and fit; identify the end that aligns with the vehicle’s reference points.
- Lightly lubricate the weatherstrip channel with soapy water or a silicone lubricant to ease installation.
- Seat one end of the weatherstrip into the channel and work progressively around the opening, pressing the seal firmly into place. Use a plastic trim tool or your fingers to avoid pinching or deforming the seal.
- Align and engage the steel outer trim into the weatherstrip’s trim groove, tapping gently with a rubber/plastic mallet if needed to fully seat the trim.
- Trim any excess material at the final joint cleanly with a utility knife and ensure the seal sits evenly with no gaps.
- Wipe away excess lubricant, allow to dry, and inspect for uniform compression and a continuous seal before reinstalling any interior trim.
