This rear window weatherstrip seal WCR DB497 is designed to secure and seal the rear glass opening, protect against water intrusion, and reduce wind noise. Featuring an integrated trim groove to accept decorative or retention trim, the seal provides an OEM-style fit and reliable long-term performance. Constructed from durable, weather-resistant rubber, it is ideal for restoration and replacement projects—verify vehicle fitment for year, make and model before purchase.
Features:
  • Integrated trim groove secures decorative or retention trim for a finished appearance.
  • Made from durable, weather-resistant rubber to resist ozone, UV and temperature extremes.
  • Designed to create a tight seal to prevent water leaks and reduce wind noise.
  • OEM-style profile for accurate fit and alignment in the glass channel.
  • Suitable for restoration and replacement applications to restore factory sealing performance.
  • Easy to handle and install; trims and adheres cleanly with standard weatherstrip adhesives.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 60-120 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Trim removal tool or flat pry bar
  • Rubber mallet or block of wood
  • Weatherstrip adhesive (recommended)
  • Isopropyl alcohol or adhesive cleaner
  • Lint-free cloths
  • Utility knife or sharp scissors
  • Masking tape
  • Gloves
  • Vacuum (for cleaning channel debris)
Instructions:
  1. Prepare workspace: park on level ground and protect interior surfaces with drop cloths.
  2. Remove the old weatherstrip: carefully pry out the existing seal and any retained trim using a trim tool. Remove all old adhesive and trim remnants.
  3. Clean the channel: vacuum out debris, then wipe the glass channel and surrounding metal with isopropyl alcohol until dry and free of grease.
  4. Test-fit the new seal: work the new weatherstrip into the channel without adhesive to verify orientation and fit. Ensure the trim groove faces outward if trim will be installed.
  5. Apply adhesive (if required): follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions and apply a thin, even bead to the channel or seal lip where recommended.
  6. Seat the seal: begin at one corner and press the seal lip into the channel, working around the perimeter. Use a rubber mallet or block of wood to gently tap the seal fully into place without deforming the profile.
  7. Secure and trim: use masking tape to hold the seal in position while adhesive cures. Trim any excess material with a utility knife for a clean finish.
  8. Allow cure time: let adhesive cure per instructions (usually several hours) before reinstalling the glass or driving the vehicle.
  9. Final check: after curing, inspect for gaps, and test for leaks by gently spraying water around the seal and checking the interior for moisture.
