Precision Rear Window Weatherstrip Seal WBL 1129 is a direct-fit replacement weatherseal designed to secure and seal the rear window, preventing water intrusion, wind noise, and road dust. Constructed from durable EPDM rubber, this seal resists UV, ozone, and temperature cycling to maintain a tight, long-lasting fit. Ideal for restoration or maintenance projects, it restores original fit and finish while providing reliable protection and simple installation.
Features:
- Constructed from durable EPDM rubber for long life and weather resistance
- Designed without a trim groove to fit glass-style rear windows (part WBL 1129)
- Seals rear window to prevent leaks, reduce wind noise, and keep out dust
- Restoration-grade replacement that restores original appearance and function
- Flexible material for easier seating and a snug, vibration-reducing fit
- Easy to install with basic tools and common adhesives or lubricants
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and work in a shaded, dry area. If the glass must be removed, support it safely or have an assistant help.
- Remove the old weatherstrip: gently pry out the old seal using a plastic trim tool or wrapped screwdriver to avoid scratching the glass or body.
- Clean the channel and glass seating area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or mild cleaner to remove dirt, adhesive residue, and old gasket material. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal by positioning it around the window opening to confirm orientation and fit. Trim excess only if necessary and per fitment notes.
- If recommended for your application, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive into the channel or apply a water/soap lubricant to the seal lip for easier installation.
- Starting at one corner, press the new seal into the channel, working around the perimeter. Use a plastic trim tool to seat the lip fully into the flange without pinching or twisting the rubber.
- Use masking tape to hold corners or areas under light pressure while adhesive cures (if adhesive used). Apply gentle heat with a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the rubber for tighter corners, if needed.
- Allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer instructions (if used). Re-check the seal seating and clean any excess adhesive. Reinstall the glass or trim components if removed and inspect for leaks.
