Left-hand Vent Glass Weatherstrip Seal (VWL 1110 73) designed for 1973 Volkswagen Type 1 vehicles (Beetle and compatible models). This precision-molded rubber seal secures the vent (wing) glass to the vent frame, preventing water intrusion, reducing wind noise, and ensuring a snug fit for years of dependable service. Made from durable EPDM-style rubber with a factory-style profile, the seal restores proper alignment and finish to aging or damaged vent windows and is ideal for restorations, maintenance, or replacement projects.
Features:
- Fits 1973 Volkswagen Type 1 vehicles (Beetle and compatible models) — left-hand vent (wing) glass, VWL 1110 73.
- Factory-profile EPDM-style rubber resists ozone, UV and heat for long-lasting performance.
- Seals vent glass to prevent water leaks and wind noise while maintaining proper glass alignment.
- Direct-fit replacement designed to match original dimensions and contour for an accurate restore.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools; ideal for restoration and routine maintenance of classic VWs.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Lower or remove the vent glass assembly: open the vent and remove any retaining screws or rivets securing the vent frame to the door (retain hardware for reassembly).
- Carefully separate the vent frame from the door, supporting the glass to avoid dropping or chipping.
- Remove the old weatherstrip by pulling it free from the channel; use a trim tool or flat-head screwdriver to work it loose if stuck.
- Clean the channel and mating surfaces with a clean cloth and mild solvent or soapy water to remove old adhesive, dirt and debris; allow to dry.
- Lightly lubricate the new weatherstrip with soapy water or a silicone-based rubber lubricant to ease installation and prevent twisting.
- Align the new seal with the vent frame channel, starting at one corner and pressing the bulb and flange fully into place along the entire perimeter.
- Reinstall the vent frame and glass assembly into the door, ensuring the seal seats evenly; secure with original screws or rivets and tighten evenly.
- Check operation of the vent window for smooth movement and confirm a watertight fit by running water over the sealed area and inspecting for leaks; adjust as needed.
