Instructions:
- Remove the interior door panel and any trim obstructing access to the vent window assembly. Keep fasteners and clips organized.
- Open the vent window and unbolt or unclip the vent assembly hinge and latch so the vent frame can be removed or swung out for access.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip by pulling it away from the vent frame and channel. If it’s brittle, cut sections to ease removal. Clean the channel and mating surfaces with a rag and rubbing alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris.
- Compare the new weatherstrip to the removed seal to confirm fit and orientation. Trim the new seal only if necessary for length using a sharp blade.
- Apply a light coat of soapy water or silicone lubricant to the sealing lips to ease installation. Start at the hinge end and work the new seal onto the vent frame, pushing the sealing lips fully into the channel.
- Seat the seal evenly around the frame. Use masking tape to hold the seal in position if needed and a rubber mallet (gently) to press any retaining bead into its channel without damaging the rubber.
- Reinstall the vent assembly into the door, secure hinges and latch hardware, and adjust alignment so the vent closes smoothly and evenly against the door.
- Reinstall the door panel and trim. Perform a water test and ride test to confirm there are no leaks and to check for wind noise; readjust if necessary.
