Two-piece left and right vent glass weatherstrip kit designed to restore a tight, long-lasting seal for vent windows on 1978 Volkswagen vehicles (VWK 3110 78). These seals prevent water intrusion, reduce wind noise and vibration, and protect interior trim and glass edges. Made to replace worn or cracked original weatherstrips, the kit provides reliable durability, improved cabin comfort, and an OEM-style fit for easier restoration or maintenance.
Features:
- Fitment: Designed for 1978 Volkswagen vent glass (left and right) — confirm VWK 3110 78 compatibility with your vehicle before ordering.
- High-quality EPDM rubber construction resists ozone, UV and temperature extremes for long-lasting sealing performance.
- Replaces worn or cracked vent seals to stop leaks, reduce wind noise and prevent interior water damage.
- Direct two-piece replacement for an OEM-style fit; restores original appearance and function.
- Easy to handle and install with minimal trimming or adjustment required; ideal for restoration and routine maintenance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, roll down the vent glass slightly (if applicable) and remove any interior trim or screws securing the vent channel per vehicle service procedure.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: use a plastic trim tool or gently pry with a wrapped flathead to avoid scratching paint or glass.
- Clean the channel and mating surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaner to remove dirt, old adhesive and residue. Let dry completely.
- Test-fit the new left and right seals in the channel to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess only if necessary.
- If recommended for your vehicle, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive in the channel where the new seal will seat. Allow adhesive to become tacky per product instructions.
- Starting at one end, press the seal into the channel and work along the length, ensuring the bulb and flange fully seat into the channel. Use a rubber mallet or roller to gently tap the seal into place for uniform seating.
- Reinstall any removed trim or fasteners and operate the vent glass to confirm smooth operation and correct seal placement.
- Allow any adhesive to cure per manufacturer directions (if used). Perform a water test or check for wind noise at low speed to verify proper sealing.
