A direct-fit left and right 2-piece vent glass weatherstrip seal kit designed for 1973 Volkswagen Beetle vent/windows. This kit secures and seals the vent (wing) glass to prevent water intrusion, reduce wind noise, and protect interior trim and metal from moisture damage. Made from durable EPDM rubber with an OEM-style profile, the seals restore proper alignment and fit for original or restored vehicles. Easy to install and built for long-lasting performance, this kit is ideal for maintenance, restoration projects, and repair of worn or cracked vent seals.
Features:
- Fits 1973 Volkswagen Beetle (Type 1) vent/wing glass — left and right, 2-piece set.
- Made from high-quality EPDM rubber for long-term resistance to weathering and ozone.
- Seals vent glass to prevent water leaks, reduce wind noise, and protect interior trim.
- OEM-style profile ensures correct alignment and a factory-fit appearance.
- Simple replacement for restoration or maintenance — improves comfort and longevity.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and open the vent (wing) window to the service position.
- Remove any retaining screws or pivot bolts holding the vent frame using the appropriate screwdriver or socket; carefully support the vent assembly as you remove fasteners.
- Lift the vent assembly out of the door/frame and place on a soft, clean surface to avoid scratching the glass.
- Carefully pry out the old weatherstrip from the vent glass channel using a trim tool or flathead screwdriver, taking care not to bend the glass or damage the frame.
- Clean the glass channel and surrounding frame thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or adhesive cleaner and a lint-free cloth; remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip on the vent glass to ensure correct orientation and fit before final installation.
- Apply a light coat of soapy water or silicone lubricant to the weatherstrip channel to ease installation and seat the seal onto the glass, pressing evenly along its length.
- Reinstall the vent assembly into the door/frame, aligning pivot points and ensuring the new seal sits flush in the channel.
- Tighten pivot bolts or retaining screws to manufacturer torque or snug fit; cycle the vent open and closed to verify proper alignment and seal contact.
- Inspect for gaps and correct fit; trim any excess material only if necessary and recheck operation and sealing performance.
