Windshield weatherstrip seal WCR-653 with an integrated trim groove, engineered for GM vehicles. This seal secures the windshield glass and accepts steel exterior trim, providing a tight barrier against water, wind noise, and road vibration. Made from durable EPDM rubber with a precision-formed channel for steel molding, it restores factory appearance and performance for repairs or restorations. Designed for reliable, long-lasting protection and straightforward installation with common tools.
Features:
- Fits select GM vehicles requiring the WCR-653 windshield seal; verify exact year and model fitment before purchase.
- EPDM rubber construction resists weathering, UV degradation, and temperature extremes for long service life.
- Integrated trim groove accommodates steel exterior molding, ensuring secure trim retention and correct factory look.
- Seals against water intrusion and wind noise while reducing vibration and protecting windshield edges.
- Straightforward replacement for restoration or maintenance projects to restore original fit and finish.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1-2 hours
Instructions:
- Confirm fitment for your vehicle year and model and gather listed tools. Work on a clean, level surface.
- Carefully remove the exterior steel trim molding (if present) using a trim tool and set fasteners aside.
- Loosen and remove the existing weatherstrip by prying it free from the pinch weld or trim flange; take care not to force the windshield glass.
- Thoroughly clean the pinch weld and mounting surfaces of old adhesive, dirt, and rust. Dry and inspect for damage; repair any rust or metal deformation before installing the new seal.
- If the original installation used adhesive, apply a thin bead of appropriate seam sealer or windshield adhesive to the mounting surface as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Align the new WCR-653 seal around the windshield edge, starting at one corner and working around the perimeter. Use soapy water or rubber lubricant to ease seating where needed.
- Press the seal firmly into the pinch weld or trim flange, using a rubber mallet and padding to avoid damaging the rubber. Ensure the integrated groove is properly oriented to accept the steel trim.
- Reinstall the steel trim molding into the seal groove, securing any fasteners previously removed. Verify the trim seats evenly and the seal compresses uniformly around the glass.
- Check for gaps, improper seating, or distortion. Make any minor adjustments while the adhesive (if used) is still workable.
- Allow any adhesive or sealer to cure per product directions before exposing the vehicle to weather. If windshield removal was required or if you are unsure, consult a professional installer.
