A direct-fit windshield weatherstrip seal (WBL 587) designed for select GM vehicles. This seal secures the windshield edge, prevents water intrusion, reduces wind noise and protects the vehicle body from corrosion and interior water damage. Molded from resilient, weather-resistant rubber with an OEM-style profile, the seal restores proper sealing performance and appearance during windshield replacement or restoration projects. Durable, reliable, and engineered for an accurate fit, it simplifies reassembly and helps maintain a factory-like finish.
Features:
- Fits select GM vehicles — confirm compatibility with part number WBL 587 before ordering.
- OEM-style profile engineered to seal the windshield edge without a trim groove.
- Made from durable, weather-resistant EPDM rubber to resist UV, ozone and temperature breakdown.
- Prevents water leaks, reduces wind noise and helps protect against rust and interior damage.
- Ideal for restoration or replacement projects where a no-groove seal is required.
- Simple to handle and position for faster windshield installation.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours (may vary by vehicle and whether windshield removal is required)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and protect paint and interior with drop cloths.
- If replacing an existing seal, carefully remove the old weatherstrip and any adhesive or debris from the pinch weld and channel using a razor blade and plastic pry tool.
- Clean the pinchweld/channel thoroughly with solvent and allow to dry. Inspect the metal for rust or damage and repair if necessary.
- Dry-fit the new WBL 587 seal around the windshield opening to confirm proper orientation and fit. Trim excess only if specified by vehicle-specific instructions.
- Apply primer/urea or urethane adhesive per adhesive manufacturer's instructions to the pinchweld or to the seal flange as recommended.
- Start at the top center and press the seal into the pinch weld, working outward and downward on each side to seat the seal evenly. Use masking tape to hold sections in place if needed.
- If reinstalling the windshield, follow windshield setting procedures: apply urethane to the pinchweld or seal, set the windshield into the seal, press to seat, and tape in place to prevent movement.
- Clean excess adhesive before it cures. Allow full adhesive cure time per the adhesive manufacturer's recommendations before driving.
- Check for proper sealing and dress any trim or molding as required. If unsure about windshield removal or adhesive application, consult a professional installer.
