A self-locking windshield weatherstrip designed for 2-door hardtop models. This seal inserts into existing body clips and works with chrome windshield trim to create a tight, vibration-reducing, water-resistant seal. Built from a durable rubber compound and engineered for OEM-style fit and finish, it secures trim, prevents leaks and wind noise, and restores the original appearance and function of the windshield opening. Easy to test-fit and install, it’s a reliable replacement for worn or damaged weatherstrips during restoration or maintenance.
Features:
- Fits 2-door hardtop models — verify specific vehicle fitment before purchase.
- Self-locking design that seats into body clips for secure retention.
- Works with chrome windshield trim — designed to accept and hold trim securely.
- Durable rubber compound resists weathering, UV and temperature extremes.
- Reduces wind noise and water intrusion while restoring OEM appearance.
- OEM-style replacement for restoration or routine maintenance — no permanent modifications required.
- Simple test-fit and installation; trim and clip compatibility speeds replacement.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and protect painted surfaces with masking tape where you will work.
- Carefully remove the chrome windshield trim: use a plastic trim tool to pry trim away from the body and retain any screws or clips for reinstallation.
- Remove the old weatherstrip by pulling it out of the channel and removing any remaining clips; use pliers if needed. Inspect and replace any broken or corroded body clips.
- Clean the sealing channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a degreaser to remove old adhesive, dirt and grease. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the windshield opening to confirm orientation and where the ends meet. Trim excess only if necessary, leaving a small overlap when required by vehicle design.
- Apply a light film of silicone lubricant or soapy water to the bulb and channel to ease installation.
- Starting at one corner, press the weatherstrip bead into the channel and seat it into the body clips. Use a rubber mallet or a wooden block to gently tap the seal into place where needed. Work your way around the windshield, ensuring the self-locking bead fully engages.
- Reinstall the chrome trim over the newly seated weatherstrip, aligning and reusing the original clips or screws. Ensure the trim holds the seal evenly without pinching.
- Trim any excess material and apply a small bead of automotive-grade silicone sealant at corners or transitions if recommended for your vehicle. Wipe away any excess.
- Allow any sealant to cure per manufacturer instructions and test for leaks by gently spraying water around the windshield perimeter or using a hose at low pressure.
