The Precision Universal Textured PVC covered wire-core push-on U-channel UWS 172 R-250 is a universal edge-trim that provides a textured, weather-resistant finish and a firm push-on grip for doors, hoods, trunks, windows and other panel edges on most vehicles. The internal wire core clamps securely to sheet-metal edges to protect against abrasion, seal out moisture, reduce vibration and rattles, and give a finished appearance. Textured PVC resists UV, oils and road contaminants for long-lasting durability, while the push-on design enables quick, low-effort installation—ideal for restoration, repair and routine maintenance.
Features:
- Universal fit for most automotive and marine panel edges and trim applications.
- Textured PVC outer cover resists UV, oils and weathering for extended life.
- Wire-core U-channel provides a secure push-on grip to clamp to sheet-metal edges.
- Protects edges from chipping and abrasion while helping seal out moisture and reduce vibration.
- Push-on installation requires minimal tools and can be trimmed to length for custom fit.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 10–30 minutes (per section)
Instructions:
- Measure the edge length you need to cover and add a small overlap (about 1/4"/6mm) for a neat finish.
- Clean the metal edge thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to remove dirt, grease and loose paint; allow to dry.
- Cut the U-channel to length using a utility knife or heavy-duty scissors. Make a clean, square cut.
- Test-fit the channel on the edge to confirm fit. If the channel is tight, slightly untwist the wire core with pliers or warm the PVC with a heat gun to increase flexibility.
- Starting at one end, press the U-channel onto the panel edge, pushing the wire core over the lip until fully seated. Use clamps or tape to hold in place if needed.
- For tight curves, heat the PVC gently with a heat gun while bending to avoid kinks; press and hold until cooled and set.
- Trim any excess, tuck or fold the ends neatly, and inspect the fit. Add a small bead of compatible adhesive or seam sealer at the ends for permanent installations if desired.
