1964 Ford Galaxy: From $250 'barn find' to 'million-dollar' beauty
By Claudio D'Andrea
The Ouellette Car Cruise in downtown Windsor has become an annual rite of summer-fun passage.
Last year, it celebrated its 10th anniversary and car buffs were getting ready to rev their engines again for the 11th edition on Friday, Aug. 14.
The annual event brings out classic car lovers, hot rod enthusiasts, muscle car owners and motorcyclists. Through the years, they rolled some eye-popping vehicles through the streets of Canada's motor city including a gorgeous 1964 Ford Galaxy at the third edition of the fest in 2018.
Dave Desrosiers, who once raced stock cars at Checker Flag Motor Speedway in Windsor, proudly showed off his wheels to a Windsor Star reporter in 2018.
"It was a true barn find," he said of his Galaxy. "We paid $250 for this car and restored it. Now it looks like a million dollars and I can't wait to show everybody on the cruise tonight."
The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association calls the event "one of Windsor's favourite summer traditions as hundreds of vehicles cruise through the city in celebration of automotive culture, community, and summer fun."
